Soccer is cyclical. A great team goes up, then they fall. However, Aston Villa appears to have reached the intersection at the premature point of their project.
At the end of the 2024/25 season, Unai Emery watched his side in a sloppy performance at Old Trafford. This was the final match of the Premier League campaign and would have been enough points to re-enact Champions League locations. The villa was beaten and objected to it.
The Lions, who have won four games in their new league season, still ring across each game and have lost twice. There are rare times when you panic, but this slow start has heightened the fear of a regressive year, and Emery knows that it needs to be put together all of it.
Only, Villa was restrained during the summer transfer, a by-product of annoyed defeat in Manchester. For this reason, Jacob Ramsey was forced to sell to Newcastle United and brought in with Evan Suspect.
The villa still has Ollie Watkins, who leads the line.
Ollie Watkins is still a villa charm
Watkins has been in the game for a while, playing 228 games in all Aston Villa tournaments, scoring 87 goals and supplying 42 assists.
He has been synonymous with club advancements in recent years, offering a variety of deep views on No. 9.
Watkins is one of the best Premier Leagues of his generation. Behind some of the superstars are three Lions stars who produced clinical performance that statistician Dave led him to describe him as “one of the best nine in the world.”

Data from the Transfer Market |
However, he is 29 years old (almost ancient), reflecting the aging nature of Emery’s first team team. Given that Trammel, which was imposed on Villa Park in the summer transfer market, actually led to speculation and permanent signatures only, there’s no doubt that a young and exciting signature needs to be made in the front window.
But Villa isn’t a team made up of veterans alone, but he’s one of the brightest youngest stars in the Premier League, and although he’s not a striker, Morgan Rogers has the ability to replace Watkins as a charm at Villa Park.
Emery hits Morgan Rogers with gold
Rogers, 23, signed Aston Villa from Middlesbrough in January 2024, attending for a £15 million fee. What a bargain. He participated in the second half of the 2023/24 season, but came to life after a full preseason in which Villa scored 29 goal involvement in all competitions while fighting on the national and Champions League fronts.
As Sky Sports said “Jamie Carrager would “unstopped” when he gets on the ball, Rodgers’ athleticism and pace allow him to travel between wide attacks and central offensive berths, and the division is attracting attention.
In fact, Rogers crowned PFA Young Player of the Year for the 2024/25 season and has begun to establish himself as the Midlands Club’s best signature since Watkins was welcomed by Brentford in September 2020 at £28 million.
He sits in a respected company.

Watkins was the man his teammates have relied on for quite some time, but it began to change his last term.
Sofascore, for example, recorded that he created 16 big chances in the Premier League last year, averaged 1.8 dribbling and 4.7 successful duels per game, with the heat map showing off his energy and covering so many ground.
The 75,000 pound week talent, who is now completely blood international, may not have clicked on gear for the opening week of the current campaign, but when Emery’s system begins turning once more, and Rogers will certainly form the core of the next phase.
The Villa must be pleased that despite the tide wave of economic concerns and interest, they were able to avoid farewell with the young award this summer.
Certainly, Tottenham Hotspur took a particular preference for the dynamic midfielder, asking about his availability and didn’t seem to discourage Aston Villa’s £80 million rating.
The truth is that Emery and his leadership republicans may share the view that Rogers cannot sell.
However, the intense resistance to curiosity from rivals in the division this summer highlights the pedestal Emery has placed him on.
Already achieved in the Champions League, Rodgers has the world at his feet. Not only in the Premier League, but also around the world.
Rodgers has yet to develop into a player with the coach he feels he can become him every day. It is the greatest testament to the growth of former members of Manchester City Academy.
It’s easy to forget that Rodgers is just beginning his second season, when he’s only been playing at the top flight level consistently. More should come, and Aston Villa nails his teeth and nails with those who want to praise him. Here is a new charm ready to guide his side towards a sustained period of success.
