Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca hopes to strengthen another important area of his team in January.
Enzo Maresca isn’t happy behind the scenes of the Chelsea team
The tactician is reportedly unhappy with his current team and feels he is still quite weak in certain divisions.
This is despite the fact that they spent nearly £300 million in their latest summer transfer period, only Premier League champion Liverpool is throwing more cash than the new recruit Blues.

However, Chelsea had spent a lot, but they failed to bring in a star centre-back.
Trevo Charova (interrupted), Levi Colwill, Wesley Fofana and Tosin Adalabioyo are all set to miss today’s clash with Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, and Maresca leaves most of the options, but plays Benoit Badiaseal with the left-back Jarrell pigeon.
Chelsea are scheduled to try to sign centre-back in January. Clubs and boards should be a priority when the windows reopen (Pete O’Rourke).
That being said, there is clearly a lot of territory for the team Maresca is currently unhappy with, which has caused some tension in part between the Chelsea boss and the board.
“Now, Maresca isn’t completely satisfied with Chelsea. The summer transfer window has gotten even worse,” journalist Simon Phillips wrote via his Saccak earlier this week.
“Malesca isn’t happy with the team he has and is far from behind the many recruitings he’s made this summer, and he feels his team still lacks a lot of key elements in some positions. SPTC sources have heard there is a clear tension between Malesca and the board.”
Now, in another Substack update, Phillips reports that Maresca also wants to sign another number 9.
Just as Enzo Maresca wants a new straker, Chelsea i Dusan Vlahovic
Liam Dellup will be out until November after suffering a hamstring injury at the start of the season, but Joan Pedro is definitely better suited to the 10th place position.
The question mark also surrounds whether Mark Giu, returning from a short loan spell in Sunderland, can realistically depend on him as a proven target getter.
According to Phillips, Maresca certainly thinks Chelsea can do it with another centre forward.
“So I started hearing whispers that Chelsea felt they needed another appropriate nine. I know that Enzo Maresca certainly believes and feels that,” the reporter wrote.
“I was asked about Ivan Tony, why have never seen a report about it. But anyway, I haven’t heard of Tony watching again yet, but he still appreciates him and certainly knows there are people who wanted him before he went to the Saudi Arabia.
“That’s the same as Duchamp Vlahovic, he’s on the Chelsea nominee list and is still there.
Vlahovic needs to take a dramatic pay cut to join Chelsea considering his careful wage structure, but there is reason to believe that 25 years old is a good option.
His contract expires in 2026. That means Chelsea will negotiate the January move of cut prices, given that the old lady has very few negotiation rooms, considering his deal will run out in a few months.
Vlahovic has also already scored over 110 senior goals in his career, despite still approaching his prime, including four appearances in the campaign.
