  • Liverpool need more depth in midfield
  • Reds will need to convince Eduardo Camavinga

According to TBR Football, Liverpool have long-term plans to strengthen their midfield by targeting Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga.

The Reds are said to be considering a move in 2026, when Camavinga’s situation could be more favorable.

With questions looming over the depth of Anfield’s midfield, this promising transfer story stands out as one to keep an eye on going forward.

Liverpool manager Arne Slott has had to rely heavily on limited midfield options this season.

Liverpool need more depth in midfield

Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenbirch do most of the work, with few reliable back-ups behind them.

On the other hand, new players like Florian Wirtz have yet to make an impact in terms of goal contributions.

The resulting strain caused Liverpool’s leaders to seriously consider reinforcing the engine room for the future.

Camavinga ticks a lot of boxes. At just 22 years old, he already boasts an elite pedigree, having won the Champions League twice with Real Madrid, and has versatility and even experience.

However, his playing time has been limited in recent months. The rise and form of Arda Güler and Aurélien Choameny, as well as Camavinga’s continued injury, complicate his position in Madrid’s rotation.

There has been talk of a move to 2026, with Liverpool already having Camavinga on their shortlist alongside midfield targets such as Carlos Baleva and Adam Wharton.

However, many challenges still remain. Real Madrid may be reluctant to sell a player they still see as a project, especially if his status is restored.

Camavinga has strong roots in the Spanish capital on and off the pitch, and moving abroad would be mentally difficult.

Liverpool will likely need to offer an attractive package, both financially and in terms of sporting vision, to persuade him.

The Premier League giants lost Trent Alexander-Arnold to the Spanish giants this summer, but are now eyeing a chance to pick up a point from Real Madrid next year.
