Jurgen Klopp’s agent Marc Kosicke has sensationally revealed that both Manchester United and Chelsea have approached him about appointing him as manager following the German’s departure from Liverpool.

In an exclusive interview with Transfermarkt, Kosicke admitted that the Premier League giants were rejected because Klopp remained true to his vow never to manage another English club.

Upon his departure in May 2024, the 58-year-old famously declared he would not coach another team in England, a promise he has kept despite attracting attention from Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge.

“There were also inquiries from Chelsea and Manchester United, but Jurgen had made it clear that he would not coach any other club in England,” Kosicke said.

“These inquiries have not stopped. Jurgen has undergone a transformation, moving away from being a big-minded coach and taking on more managerial responsibilities.”

Agent does not rule out possibility of returning to management in the future

Manager Jurgen Klopp is currently “very, very happy” in his corporate role, but Kosicke has not completely closed the door on a future return to the dugout.

The agent hinted that one day the lure of the game might prove too strong to resist.

“Maybe at some point he’ll say he needs to smell the locker room again,” Kosicke said.

However, Klopp stressed that he is happy to step away from the “wider vision” of coaching for the time being and will instead focus on his strategic responsibilities across the Red Bull network.

Jurgen Klopp’s incredible management legacy

Klopp’s refusal to join another English club further cements a tradition built on longevity and deep connections.

During his 23-year career, he only managed three clubs: FSV Mainz 05, Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool.

At Mainz, he led the German club to promotion to the Bundesliga for the first time in their history in 2004.

With Borussia Dortmund, Klopp won back-to-back Bundesliga titles (2011 and 2012) and reached the Champions League final in 2013.

At Liverpool, he ended Anfield’s 30-year wait for a league title in 2020, taking the club’s sixth Champions League trophy (2019).

Trophies won by Jurgen Klopp with Liverpool

Under manager Klopp, Liverpool have also won two League Cups, one FA Cup, the Community Shield, the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.

They could have also won the Premier League title, but lost by just one point to Manchester City not once but twice.
