  • Romano admits talks between Manchester United and Harry Maguire were positive
  • Ruben Amorim is a big fan of Harry Maguire

Manchester United have held positive discussions with Harry Maguire regarding a new contract.

Maguire, whose current contract with Man United expires at the end of the summer, has been involved in contract negotiations at Old Trafford.

There is a lot of interest in Maguire, particularly from Saudi Arabia, who are willing to offer him a financially lucrative deal.

However, Maguire appears ready to reject these offers in favor of a new contract.

Interestingly, if he signs a new contract extension, it would mean the player has agreed to a significant pay cut.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who shared an update on Harry Maguire’s contract status.

According to Italian transfer experts, positive negotiations are underway between the club and the player towards a new contract.

The club want to retain Maguire as he is important on and off the pitch. He remains an important player for the club. The player is also happy to continue playing at Old Trafford.

Both sides now need to come to a financial agreement with Maguire, who would have to agree to a significant pay cut if he is to remain.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Here We Go podcast, Romano said:

“Harry Maguire is also an interesting case, as there have been talks in recent days with Maguire’s agent who was in Carrington to meet Manchester United. “Harry would be happy to remain at the club and we would also be happy to retain a player who has performed very well on the pitch and in terms of leadership in the dressing room.

“There have been positive exchanges between Maguire and United, but in order for this contract to be extended, other terms need to be discussed. “Therefore, if United and Maguire were to reach an agreement on a new contract, it would be Harry The financial position of Maguire’s contract will therefore be crucial in understanding whether he intends to remain at the club or whether he decides to part ways and try something else.

Ruben Amorim is a big fan of Harry Maguire

Maguire was on the verge of being forced out under Erik ten Hag, but the arrival of Ruben Amorim changed his fortunes.

He established his form and became an important player for Amorim’s team in terms of his influence on and off the pitch.

Amorim had previously praised his leadership and described his style of play as “perfect”.

After last season’s Manchester derby, the Manchester United manager told the media:

“Maguire is perfect when playing with three defenders. He’s perfect in the middle. Everyone defended very well, not just Harry. They were very focused.”
