Bournemouth could be fined for their actions in the recent game against Crystal Palace.

Both teams played out a thrilling 3-3 draw in the Premier League over the weekend, with a last-minute penalty putting Crystal Palace back in the game.

Crystal Palace were awarded a last-minute penalty against the Cherries after Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi was brought down by Baffode Diakité inside the penalty area.

However, Bournemouth’s players were unhappy with the decision, with some surrounding referee Jared Gillett and protesting the decision.

A rule has already been introduced in the Premier League that only captains are allowed near referees, with players around them subject to sanctions.

PGMOL expert and former chief Keith Hackett has revealed to Football Insider that Bournemouth could be fined for swarming the referee against Crystal Palace.

“This is against protocol. Even though there is a ‘captains only’ rule, I wish the protocol was that it is a reportable scenario for a referee to be surrounded by more than three players.”

“While it is a serious decision with the potential for fines for the offending team, this has to stop. It is frustrating as a fan.”

“You want your team to win, but Gillette has had a great performance. He knows what’s a foul and what’s not a foul. He’s in great shape, so let him run the game.”

It will be interesting to see if Cherry is punished in the coming weeks.

The Cherries will be hoping to avoid a fine this time, but they will need to be more careful in the heated moments on the pitch. They have started the season well and will be looking to build on that in the coming weeks.
