  • Bayern Munich lead race to sign Palace defender

Bayern Munich appear to be leading the race to sign Marc Gehi, with the German giants reportedly bidding to beat several Premier League clubs to sign Crystal Palace’s captaincy.

According to Christian Falk, one of Gehi’s agents, Gordon Stipic, was recently seen in Munich for talks, a development that suggests that negotiations are progressing behind the scenes.

Bayern’s interest is said to be serious, with sporting director Christoph Freund playing a key role in pushing for the move.

Liverpool were interested in a move for Guehi and even tried to sign him this summer, but Palace remained adamant and blocked the defender’s move to the Premier League side.

Arne Slott’s side remain interested in the centre-back, but that could change with Bayern Munich joining the race.

The Bavarian club’s advantage over its English rivals is due to two key factors: existing connections within the football network and Bayern’s clearly defined long-term recruitment plan.

Freund, who has become sports director Max Hebert’s right-hand man, is drawing on his close relationship with former colleague Oliver Glasner, with whom he shared time within the Red Bull football organization.

The two players are in regular contact and have discussed the possibility of bringing Guehi to the Allianz Arena as part of Bayern’s defensive rebuild.

The 25-year-old England international fits perfectly into the club’s recruitment philosophy.

His appeal is further enhanced by his relatively modest wage demands compared to Premier League stars. Moreover, Gehi’s contract status at Crystal Palace has led to speculation that he could be signed for a reasonable fee or even free in the near future, further increasing Bayern’s interest.

Freund and Ebel have worked to rejuvenate the team with young, dynamic players who can grow into leadership roles.

Guehi, who captains Crystal Palace and has already gained recognition at international level with England, is seen within the company as a player who can provide both stability and long-term value.

The fact that Stipik is reportedly traveling to Munich for talks indicates that he is taking concrete steps to move the agreement forward.

Bayern’s intentions are firm as manager Freund is applying internal pressure to complete the move and Gehi has a clear sporting role ahead of him.

If all goes to plan, Guehi could soon move from Selhurst Park to the Allianz Arena, taking the next big step in his blossoming career.
