  • Manchester United continues to invest in young talent
  • United have spent big on signing attacking players.

Manchester United are reportedly in talks to sign Kevin Villing, a highly-rated young striker from Sweden’s AIK Fotobor, according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg.

The 16-year-old forward has emerged as one of Scandinavia’s most promising players and has attracted interest from several top European clubs.

Despite his age, Villing has already made his mark in the Swedish top flight, impressing with his physicality and quality of finishing.

United’s pursuit of teenagers reflects United’s growing commitment to building a sustainable youth-led recruitment model under Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s ownership and Reuben Amorim’s long-term vision.

Filling’s name quickly rose in European scouting circles. At 6 feet 1 inch tall, the young striker combines technical skill with impressive athleticism.

He has already scored two goals in seven appearances, a great return for a player who is still in his mid-teens.

His maturity, awareness and ability to hold up against experienced defenders has drawn comparisons to Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alexander Isak, two Swedish forwards who made early breakthroughs before moving to Europe’s elite clubs.

United could sign the striker for around 3 million euros (about 260 million yen), a modest sum but potentially a good long-term investment.

However, the Red Devils are not alone in the race, with several Bundesliga clubs also monitoring the player’s situation closely.

However, Man United’s strong youth development record and the appeal of playing in the Premier League could give them an advantage in negotiations.

The club has already strengthened its attacking line-up over the summer with the additions of Brian Mbeumo, Benjamin Šeško and Mateusz Cunha.

They are looking for more options on the market as Amorim continues to build and add depth to the squad for the future.

By targeting players like Filling, United aim to repeat the success stories of other European clubs who have benefited from identifying top talent early.

Filling’s development at Old Trafford will likely start with the academy set-up or under-21 team, before moving into first-team contention over the next few years.
