Manchester United are planning a winter raid on Nottingham Forest in a bid to sign midfield mainstay Elliott Anderson.

After a poor start to the season under manager Ruben Amorim, things are finally starting to look right for Manchester United. To further strengthen that, the Red Devils have already started planning for the winter transfer window. The Portuguese manager is looking to improve the quality of his midfield and has already identified his top targets.

Manchester United are keen to sign Elliott Anderson as they look to further strengthen their midfield, according to a report from Viharges. They believe the Newcastle graduate is the perfect fit for Amorim’s setup and are preparing for a move in January. Coach Amorim described Anderson as “a very good player.”

Anderson joined Tricky Trees in the summer of 2024 and quickly established himself as one of their mainstays. The 23-year-old’s impressive performances have helped him break into the England national team and he is also on the wishlist of some of the country’s biggest clubs.

Although Anderson is still relatively young, he has shown a lot of maturity. His ability to play in any role in the middle of the park and his composure on the ball were key reasons for Manchester United to pursue his signature.

With Coby Mainu’s future uncertain, Manuel Ugarte failing to make an impact and Casemiro in the final stages of his career, the Red Devils certainly need more quality players in the center of the park. They have scouted the Nottingham midfielder extensively ahead of a potential transfer.

They think he’s the best fit for their project, but signing him won’t be that easy. His contract with Nottingham runs until the summer of 2029 and Tricky Trees paid just £35m to sign him and could now command between £100m and £120m.

The financial situation will certainly be very difficult for the Red Devils, who spent a lot of money over the summer.
