Real Madrid are now willing to pay a penalty of just €55 million for Rodrygo to leave, amid interest from Chelsea.

Rodrigo’s future was one of the biggest talking points all summer. There was always talk of him leaving the club, but in the end it was decided that the Brazil international would stay.

The decision didn’t go well for either of them, as Rodrygo has yet to establish himself as a key figure under Xabi Alonso. His value has also declined as he struggles to regain top form. Rodrigo was once hailed as a “special” player.

According to Defensa Central via Fichajes, Real Madrid have lowered their asking price for Rodrygo. The Spanish giants had asked for between 90 million and 100 million euros for the Brazilian about a year ago, but are now willing to let him leave for between 50 and 55 million euros.

The Brazilian has also been linked with Tottenham.

Under Carlo Ancelotti, Rodrigo was always the centerpiece of the XI, but under Xabi Alonso, this was not the case. Despite being given several chances to establish himself, the Brazil international has failed to make an impression.

As a result, he was reduced to a reserve role, playing just 348 minutes for the first team out of 12 appearances. The 24-year-old has yet to find the back of the net this season. His value has dropped significantly as he struggles to move forward.

Real Madrid were hoping to make a hefty profit from selling him, but did not want to risk his value dropping any further. As a result, they are ready to offload him if a suitable offer arrives.

Chelsea are one of the clubs keen to sign him. The Blues are always looking for young players with great potential and Rodrygo definitely fits the bill. They want to further improve the quality of their side and would like to add an established star like the Brazilian to their roster.

The London club continues to monitor his situation at Real Madrid and could make a move at the appropriate time. On the other hand, a move could be a positive for the 24-year-old, as spending most of his time on the bench in Madrid does not help his cause.
