As LeBron James gradually regains his fitness, the Los Angeles Lakers continue to rely heavily on Luka Doncic and Austin Reeves for victories. The Lakers secured another road win by defeating the Utah Jazz, concluding the NBA season with a solid 12-4 record.

Although the Lakers didn’t overpower the Jazz, they maintained control for most of the second and fourth quarters without facing serious threats. The team was predominantly driven by their star trio—Doncic, Reeves, and LeBron—who collectively scored 70 points, anchoring the win. LeBron expressed satisfaction after his return to the court this season, despite the team’s shooting struggles, highlighting the importance of this victory.

Doncic led with 32 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists, while Reeves posted a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds. LeBron contributed 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists. This strong performance from the trio demands that the rest of the Lakers’ roster step up to sustain their winning momentum. However, the team’s 3-point shooting remains a glaring issue.

The Lakers shot a disappointing 26% from beyond the arc, going 10-for-38 on three-pointers. Only Doncic, Reeves, and LeBron managed to shoot above 33%, collectively hitting just 18.3% from long range with a 4-24 record. Currently, they rank 26th in the NBA for 3-point shooting percentage and dead last in three-pointers made, underscoring a significant weakness.

JJ Redick faces considerable pressure after the Lakers narrowly held off a late comeback attempt by the Jazz in the final five minutes. The game almost slipped away, with the Jazz closing the gap to a single point before crucial free throws and defensive plays secured the win. This lapse highlights a persistent issue of focus late in games, which Redick must address ahead of the upcoming NBA Cup matchups against the Los Angeles Clippers and Dallas Mavericks.

Fan Take: This update highlights the resilience of the Lakers’ core stars and underscores the ongoing challenge of elite 3-point shooting—key factors that basketball fans should watch closely. How the Lakers address these issues could shape their future success and influence the evolving strategies of the game.
