  • Troy Parrott on Leeds’ shortlist for striker
        • Leeds are involved in one of the biggest transfer battles in history for the England midfielder
    • Perfect for Parrott: Leeds could sack Farke as ‘world-class’ 4-3-3 manager

Leeds United have made a big move to sign AZ Alkmaar and Republic of Ireland international striker Troy Parrott.

Parrott has become a national hero for Ireland in recent weeks, producing a number of goal-scoring heroics during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, scoring five goals in two games.

The 23-year-old scored the vital goal against Hungary, sealing a place in next year’s play-offs. Ray Horton waxed lyrical about his influence.

“In moments like that, you’re actually trying to find the right words to express how you feel. If you’re a former player, you know what’s at stake, what they’ve been through, and when you go through tough times, you want to remember more of the good times, and that means a lot to you.”

“We knew Troy was a young man who was going to be a sensational talent. He went to Spurs as a kid, made his debut at 17, and had a lot going for him, but it didn’t go the way everyone expected. He had to reinvent himself as a player, so he’s going to play for his country and see the joy of what he’s done and hope it inspires the next generation of players.”

Leeds were rumored to be involved in a move aimed at bringing Parrott back to England, but there have now been developments in the situation.

Troy Parrott on Leeds’ shortlist for striker

According to a new report from talk sportsAccording to Alex Crook, Leeds currently have Parrott “high on their list” of attacking options. Both Los Blancos and Wolves are keen to sign him in 2026 on an ‘inter-club’ basis, with his current club demanding up to £20m for his contract.

Parrott is a man of the moment, and his stock has never been higher than he has been in his career so far, and he could be a strong signing for Leeds, whether it’s in the January transfer window or next summer.

Whites supporters will no doubt be hoping for the Irishman to be the former, helping Daniel Farke’s side avoid relegation from the Premier League to the Championship.

Parrott was highly regarded at Tottenham as a young player and was praised by Arkar’s head coach Maarten Martens, so he is by no means a genius player.

“Physically, he has become more athletic and stronger. He can perform more in the press. He is a smart player, a team player, technically at a high level. He is also mentally stable. The healthier and stronger he is, the higher the level he will play.”

He was able to improve his quality and slot into the midfield.

There is likely to be a battle for Parrott’s signature between Premier League clubs, but if Leeds can come out on top it could be exciting business, especially given the striker’s age.
