Harry Kane’s Bayern Munich suffered a heavy defeat to Arsenal in the Champions League, but the striker is already looking for revenge.

The Gunners won 3-1 with goals from Julian Timber, Noni Maduke and Gabriel Martinelli.

Lennart Karl scored the only goal for the away team, but it turned out to be just a consolation goal.

It was a match between the top two teams in the Champions League, the teams that occupied the top two positions at this season’s league stage.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal went into the game full of confidence after their 4-1 win against Tottenham, continued their fine form and showed they are serious about this season.

Kane was vague in his assessment of Arsenal’s quality, but insisted he felt Bayern would face Arsenal again in the later stages of the competition.

“It was a tough game, but it was as expected.” The England captain told TNT Sports, as reported by the Standard.

“It was a good fight, I think it was pretty even in the first half and the draw was probably a fair result.

“And in the second half we just didn’t have the same intensity and energy. We lost too many duels and in the end Arsenal punished us for that.”

“It’s definitely a team to learn from. We were playing a really good team. It was our first loss of the season, so I don’t want to panic too much, but we can certainly learn from it.”

“They’re a good team. There’s a reason why they won every game in the Champions League and are top of the Premier League.

“They had good structure, they were winning the first ball, the second ball and obviously the set pieces and we knew they were going to be dangerous.

“They have a good squad. I’m sure we’ll see them again at the end of the Champions League and I’m looking forward to it.”

Kane was a complete lone figure in the game at the Emirates Stadium, but will have been hoping to take a point from the Gunners in the second half of the competition.

The striker has had a habit of scoring against the Gunners since his time at Tottenham, but Arteta’s side are compact and defensively strong, yet smart in attack.

In the end, it proved to be a comfortable victory for Arteta’s side, showing the depth and overall quality of the team despite being hit by injuries.
