Manchester City have moved into pole position in the race to sign an “incredible” star who has captivated Pep Guardiola.

Manchester City’s January transfer plans take shape

With Erling Haaland scoring more than half of his 27 Premier League goals this season, it’s clear Man City could use some extra attacking power this January, but Phil Foden is showing signs of being back to his best.

On Saturday, City overcame a scare to beat Leeds United 3-2, with the academy product scoring a vital third goal in stoppage time and scoring the second.

However, with Haaland perhaps still needing more support in attack, the Blues are looking to sign a new forward and are considering signing current AFC Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo.

But Semenho is not the only target and with Rodri struggling to overcome his injury problems, Guardiola’s side have set their sights on a new midfielder, with another update on the signing of Nottingham Forest’s Elliott Anderson.

According to reports from Spain, Man City are currently the clear favorites to sign Anderson, but they will have to pay a club-record transfer fee to seal the deal, with the asking price said to be as much as 100 million euros (approximately £88 million).

Guardiola is obsessed with the midfielder, who has attracted interest from the world’s biggest clubs including Manchester United and Liverpool, with City now in pole position in the race to sign him.

The Blues’ financial strength should also work in their favor and there is every indication that he could be a great addition to Guardiola’s side…

The central midfielder has been nothing short of a revelation for both club and country this season, most recently putting in his best performance in Forest’s 2-0 defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion, winning more duels and completing more dribbles than any other player.

The Forest star was hailed as “incredible” by journalist Konstantinos Lianos, and was also praised by England manager Thomas Tuchel, who said: “He is an elite player with the right attitude and a lot of talent. He is playing his role in the best possible way, so we are very happy with him.”

A new update has been released regarding the signing of City’s new forward, who manager Josep Guardiola described as an “extraordinary person”.

With Rodri still struggling on the injury front, it would be ideal to bring in a new midfielder to help keep the pressure on Arsenal in the race for the Premier League title, and Andersson has proven himself as a top player this season.
