Anderson Silva Commends ‘True Fighter’ Jake Paul, Fires Back Fiercely at Critics in Fiery Tirade

Anderson Silva holds Jake Paul in high regard and believes others should show the same respect. The former UFC middleweight champion went the distance with Jake Paul in October 2022, fighting 10 rounds. Since then, Jake Paul has added six more victories to his record, defeating notable fighters like Nate Diaz, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., and Mike Tyson. Despite this impressive streak, some still question Paul’s legitimacy as a professional fighter ahead of his December 19 bout with Anthony Joshua.

Silva, fed up with the criticism Paul faces from fans, insists it’s time to acknowledge the YouTuber-turned-boxer’s hard work and dedication. “Jake changed the game,” Silva told TMZ Sports, highlighting that many who criticize Paul lack the courage or work ethic to pursue the same path. Silva emphasized that Paul consistently puts in the effort to prove himself in the ring and deserves the credit he’s earned, affirming, “He’s a real fighter.”

Anderson Silva has not competed professionally since being challenged by Jake Paul three years ago, only participating in an exhibition match against former UFC rival Chael Sonnen. He is set to make his return to the ring next weekend, appearing on the undercard of the Paul vs. Joshua fight. Originally scheduled to fight Chris Weidman for a trilogy match, Silva had to change opponents due to an injury, with former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley stepping in. Woodley has not fought since a notable knockout loss to Paul in 2021 and has not tasted victory since seven years ago when he defended his UFC title against Darren Till.

Fan Take: This endorsement from a legend like Anderson Silva adds significant credibility to Jake Paul’s boxing career, signaling a shift in how crossover athletes are perceived in combat sports. For fighting fans, it highlights the evolving landscape where new entrants challenge traditional norms and bring fresh excitement to the sport.
