Honda has unveiled the sound of its engine for the 2026 Formula 1 season by sharing a short audio clip. The Japanese automaker is set to become the official power unit supplier for Aston Martin, marking a full return to F1 next year. Although Honda officially exited the sport at the end of 2021, it maintained a collaboration with Red Bull by supplying engines under a support deal that lasts until the end of 2025.

With Red Bull shifting its focus to an in-house power unit developed with Ford for the 2026 regulation changes, Honda will now align with Aston Martin, which previously used Mercedes engines. Recently, Honda posted a brief video on social media to showcase the sound of its upcoming 2026 power unit.

Koji Watanabe, president of Honda Racing, highlighted the strong partnership between Honda and Aston Martin engineers, emphasizing their shared winning mindset and the importance of functioning as one united team. Aston Martin’s engineers currently work at Honda’s Sakura facility in Japan, while Honda’s team is based at Aston Martin’s Technology Campus in Silverstone, UK, facilitating constant knowledge exchange. Watanabe also noted the advantage of the time zone difference, enabling continuous progress as teams work around the clock.

For the 2026 season, the engine suppliers for F1 teams will be:

– McLaren: Mercedes
– Mercedes: Mercedes
– Red Bull: Red Bull Powertrain with Ford
– Ferrari: Ferrari
– Williams: Mercedes
– Racing Bulls: Ford and Red Bull powertrains
– Aston Martin: Honda
– Haas: Ferrari
– Audi: Audi
– Alpine: Mercedes
– Cadillac: Ferrari
