Minella Studi Keeps Perfect Record Intact with Dominant Cheltenham Triumph

Adam Nicol’s Minera Studi extended his unbeaten streak impressively in the JCB Triumph Trial Juvenile Hurdle at Cheltenham. Having already shown promise with wins at Musselburgh and Wetherby, this latest victory elevated him to a higher class.

As the race entered the final stretch, Harry Durham’s consistent winner One Horse Town was positioned between Minera Studi and the rest. However, Grand National-winning jockey Ryan Mania, confident in Minera Studi’s ability, made a decisive move. With a strong leap, Minera Studi surged ahead, crossing the finish line six and a half lengths clear of Winston Jr., while the favorite One Horse Town finished third.

Rated 16-1 for the upcoming Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival by Coral, Minera Studi’s trainer expects him to compete again at Prestbury Park in March. Nicholl commented on the horse’s hard work and impressive speed, noting that Minera Studi is still developing and unaware of his full potential as a racehorse. He also mentioned plans to let the horse settle before targeting Musselburgh on January 31st as a Cheltenham trial event.

Winning jockey Mania reflected on the horse’s growth since his last race at Wetherby, describing Minera Studi as calm and relaxed, yet incredibly talented. He also noted that they were instructed not to push too early in the race but couldn’t help it given the horse’s performance, suggesting that Minera Studi’s true capabilities are still unfolding.

Fan Take: This standout performance from Minera Studi is a thrilling sign for horse racing enthusiasts, promising an exciting new contender on the Cheltenham Festival stage. His continued development hints at a bright future that could bring intense competition and fresh excitement to the sport.
