Ai Ogura revealed that it was really tough for him that his best performance in his rookie MotoGP season happened during the very first race, as it led to many doubts about his real potential. The 2024 Moto2 World Champion’s unexpected signing with Trackhouse Aprilia showed promise when he started the 2025 season strong in Thailand, finishing with back-to-back top-five placements, including fifth in the main event.

Initially seen as a frontrunner for the Rookie of the Year title, Ogura struggled to surpass his Thailand results due to various injuries and a dip in form throughout much of the season. Reflecting on his debut year, he said his strong opening didn’t actually boost his confidence; instead, it made him question if he truly had that level of talent. He struggled at times with self-doubt after injuries but finished the season with solid top-10 finishes in the last races.

Ogura described his rookie year as unremarkable and expected the challenges he faced, including numerous crashes and injuries. Despite the difficulties, he remains positive about his future and excited to enter his second season, seeing promising signs in his recent performances.

Fan Take: This story highlights the intense pressures rookies face in MotoGP and how early success doesn’t always guarantee smooth progress. Racing fans should keep an eye on Ogura, as overcoming adversity this early could make him a resilient and exciting competitor for years to come.
