Brittney Griner’s 2025 season was notably eventful. After spending the first 11 years of her professional career with the Phoenix Mercury, she entered free agency and signed with the Atlanta Dream. At 35 years old, Griner appeared in 39 games for Atlanta, starting 25 of them, and averaged 9.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks. Her contributions helped the Dream achieve a 30-14 record, the best in the Eastern Conference and the third-best overall in the WNBA.

Currently, Griner is continuing her basketball journey by preparing for her second season in the 3-on-3 league Unrivaled. She will join a new team this season after previously playing for Phantoms BC in the league’s inaugural season. Last season, she averaged 16.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks. This year, former Chicago Sky coach Teresa Weatherspoon selected her to play for Vinyl BC.

Recently, Griner excited fans by sharing a photo of herself in her new Unrivaled jersey, teasing her upcoming games with Vinyl BC. The post, filled with playful photos of Griner and her teammate Lyne Howard, received a warm response, including a supportive comment from Chicago Sky security guard Rachel Banham. Banham, who was traded to the Sky last offseason, will also debut in Unrivaled this season with Lunar Owls BC. The second season of Unrivaled is set to start on January 5th, promising fans an exciting display of basketball talent.

Fan Take: Brittney Griner’s move to Atlanta and participation in Unrivaled highlights her adaptability and continued impact in women’s basketball. For WNBA fans, this signals more thrilling opportunities to see top talent showcase their skills in innovative formats, potentially growing the sport’s popularity and reach.
