Ehis Etute Shines with Career-Best 26 Points as Oregon Women Top No. 16 Maryland 68-61

Oregon State’s Ehith Etoot delivered a standout performance with a career-best 26 points and 11 rebounds, helping the Ducks secure a 68-61 victory over No. 16 Maryland on Saturday night in College Park, Maryland. Etoot shot an efficient 10-for-15 from the field and 6-for-8 from the free-throw line, while teammate Sophia Bell contributed 16 points, including four three-pointers.

The Ducks (17-7, 5-6 Big Ten) built an early 11-0 run late in the game, and despite Maryland’s late push led by Addie Mack’s layup and free throws that closed the gap to two points, Oregon State held strong by sinking five of six free throws to clinch the win. Maryland (17-6, 5-6) had dominated the first half on a 14-0 run, taking a 36-30 lead behind Oluchi Okanawa’s 27 points (23 in the first half) and Mack’s 17 points, but the Terrapins have now dropped four consecutive games.

Looking ahead, Oregon State will face Illinois State on Wednesday, while Maryland is set to play against No. 13 Michigan State.

Fan Take: This game highlights the emergence of powerful individual performances, like Etoot’s, that can turn the tide for underdogs facing ranked opponents. For basketball fans, it underscores the excitement and unpredictability of college hoops, keeping the competition fierce and the stakes high as the season progresses.
