Manchester United and INEOS are currently reportedly holding internal discussions over the possibility of signing the Premier League star in the January transfer window.

INEOS holds contract negotiations with Premier League star players

It’s no secret that Man United are looking to add to their midfield in the January transfer window after Ruben Amorim suffered too many injuries in recent weeks.

At the moment, Amorim is without Bruno Fernandes due to an ill-timed injury and has called up the unreliable Manuel Ugarte and Coby Mainu along with the aging Casemiro. To say that these options are far from ideal would be an understatement as they aim to qualify for the Champions League.

Manchester United are considering signing the former centre-back in 2026.

So INEOS has to work on it. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his friends at the winter window. They are reportedly targeting Ruben Neves, Adam Wharton and several others.

Neves is aiming to return to the Premier League and his name has been mentioned in particular recently. There is no doubt that he could emerge as a great solution to Man United’s problems if he finds a way to exceed his salary in Saudi Arabia.

There are also doubts about the future of Mainu. The Carrington School graduate has struggled for competitive appearances since joining Amorim, and rumors of his departure surfaced after his brother was spotted wearing a ‘Free Coby Mainu’ T-shirt at Old Trafford.

Reports suggest that the likes of Chelsea and Bayern Munich are targeting Maynou, but it remains to be seen whether Amorim will decide to prevent him from leaving.

If he leaves, James Garner could be a viable option. According to the Daily Mail, INEOS are currently in talks to sign Garner from Everton next month.

Manchester United could sign bargain deal for Garner

Amid all the rumors that INEOS could spend big next year, Garner represents a bargain deal. The Everton star is in the final six months of his current contract on Merseyside and could still leave the club as a free agent.

This means the Toffees are likely to only have one last chance to sign the midfielder in January, potentially allowing United to offer a reduced deal in their own interests.

The hurdle for United is that Everton are still trying to convince the Carrington graduate to sign a new contract with the club, and manager David Moyes has made no secret of his admiration for Garner.

The veteran coach told reporters earlier this season: “He’s been great since I came in. I probably didn’t realize how good he was. He was so good.

“He’s been playing great in midfield and he’s also played at full-back for me. I’ve said it a few times recently that he’s probably closer to being talked about in the England squad because of his performances.”.

“By the way, it’s (difficult) to decide who will pick the team because England have a lot of good players to choose from. I’ve been hearing discussions all week about the likes of (Phil) Foden and (Jude) Bellingham, but all I’m saying is that Jimmy is one of a group of young England midfield players who probably have a chance of being called up in the future.
