Crystal Palace are aiming to sign Chelsea loser Raheem Sterling in the upcoming transfer window.

Raheem Sterling is available at Chelsea and is expected to move on in the next transfer window, despite not having played a single minute for the first team.

According to a report on FlashScore, Crystal Palace are keen to acquire his services as they look to strengthen their attack mid-season. The Eagles prefer signing young players, but could also view Sterling as a short-term addition.

Raheem Sterling failed at Chelsea

Sterling, who made his name at Manchester City, joined Chelsea in the summer of 2022 in a deal worth £50 million. He has 19 goals and 15 assists in 81 appearances for the London club, but the move hasn’t gone as planned.

The 31-year-old spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Arsenal as he was not part of manager Enzo Maresca’s plans. He returned to his parent club in the summer, but nothing has changed. The Italian manager has made it clear that Sterling is surplus to requirements.

He hasn’t played a single minute this season and has spent most of his time training alone. Despite this situation, Sterling has no intention of parting ways with Chelsea unless the terms are favorable.

He earns around €344,000 a week and wants stability for his family before choosing his next club. More importantly, he wants to remain in London and Crystal Palace could eventually offer him that opportunity.

The Eagles can’t afford to match those salaries, but they can offer him a prominent role and an opportunity to continue in London. But it will be interesting to see if it’s enough to convince Sterling.

The England international is only 31 years old, but he certainly has a lot of football left in him. A move to the Eagles could certainly help, but it would depend on the finances involved.
