Contra Mandom, a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Raging Trent and a debut stallion, is set to be sold at the Fasig-Tipton December Digital Sale before starting his stud career at Mellot Run Farm in Charles Town, West Virginia for the 2026 breeding season. This unraced three-year-old, sired by Honor AP, was acquired for $5,000 by Antonio Delgado on behalf of Vinary Sales during an online auction.
Bred in Kentucky by Rodney Winkler and Alfonso Mazzetti, Contra Mandom is out of Violent Wave, a victorious mare by Violence. Her first offspring, multiple Grade 1 winner Raging Trent, will also begin her first season at Lane’s End in Kentucky in 2026. The family lineage boasts notable horses such as champion and Kentucky Derby winner Rival Ridge, along with Grade 3 winners The Enus Degree and I Lost My Chu.
Contra Mandom will stand stud without a fee, though breeders will need to pay a $200 reservation charge.
Fan Take: This announcement highlights the emergence of fresh bloodlines within the breeding industry, offering exciting opportunities for breeders and racing enthusiasts alike. Contra Mandom’s rich pedigree and no-stud-fee appeal could attract a diverse group of breeders, potentially shaping the future landscape of thoroughbred racing.
