Chelsea have parted ways with manager Enzo Maresca and are already struggling with their approach to appointing a new manager.

Watch below as colleague Simon Phillips responds to claims that multiple managers have already rejected Chelsea today, just hours after the news of Maresca’s departure was officially announced.

Mr Phillips appears to have heard the same thing, describing the situation at Stamford Bridge as “an absolute shambles”…

Chelsea’s current owner hasn’t inspired much confidence since taking over from previous owner Roman Abramovich, with Todd Boley and Behada Egbali taking the Blues in a completely different direction.

Perhaps it is currently proving difficult for CFC to attract good managers to help drive this project forward.

Who could fit into Chelsea’s slot?

There is already a lot of speculation about who will be Chelsea’s next manager.

According to Fabrizio Romano, one of the leading candidates seems to be Liam Rosenior, who did a great job with fellow BlueCo club Strasbourg…

Meanwhile, Bournemouth’s renowned manager Andoni Iraola has also been linked with the west London giants, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

It’s not clear which manager turned Chelsea down, but one imagines that the likes of Rosenior and Iraola would certainly see the job as a step up for them, even if it wasn’t the easiest time to take over.

Is the job of Chelsea manager still attractive?

Chelsea is a huge club with a very strong recent history, despite going through a difficult period since Abramovich had to relinquish ownership of the club.

Chelsea have very talented young players and the team remained in the Champions League and reached the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.

Even if some newer managers like Maresca seem to find it difficult to work under this ownership, I’m sure there are many who would be tempted by it.
