The PGA Tour returns to Colonial Country Club each year for the Charles Schwab Challenge, which was first held 80 years ago in 1946 and is one of the oldest tournaments on the annual schedule, making it the second stop on the Texas Two Step.
A year ago, Ben Griffin won this event as he climbed into the world’s top 10, earning his first individual victory on the PGA Tour. This year’s event will be headlined by Ludwig Oberg, the talented Swede returning to Texas where he played collegiate golf at Texas Tech University and looking for his third career PGA Tour win. He will be challenged by the likes of Justin Thomas, Akshay Bhatia, Rickie Fowler, Russell Henry, J.J. Spawn, Alex Smalley, Hideki Matsuyama and Gary Woodland at one of the classic courses on the PGA Tour calendar.
Oberg, Thomas, Fowler, Henry, Smalley and Matsuyama will have a chance to finally get their first wins of the 2026 season this week, while Battier, Spaun and Woodland will be looking for their second wins of the season. Beyond these big names, Colonial has produced a number of incredible winners in the past, making the Charles Schwab Challenge a breakthrough opportunity for lesser-known players in the field.
