  • Amorim is still highly regarded in European football.

Former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has decided to step aside until the end of this season, despite receiving strong interest from clubs in the Middle East and Brazil.

According to journalist Rudy Galetti, the Portuguese manager has revealed that he will not accept any offers in the coming months, choosing instead to focus on rest, reflection and time with his family before considering another move.

Amorim’s decision follows his unexpected release from Man United, a move that surprised many due to its timing.

United’s performances have been inconsistent, but few expected the club’s hierarchy to act so boldly during a period of transition.

But internally, officials suggested the decision had been in the works for weeks, with tensions rising behind the scenes.

From a purely results-based perspective, Amorim’s departure was not that shocking. United struggled to find a rhythm under his leadership, often alternating between promising and inconsistent performances.

While there were flashes of pressing and structured football that defined his success in Portugal, those ideas did not translate consistently in the Premier League.

But even more damaging were reported disagreements with the club’s hierarchy. Disagreement over hiring strategy, team balance, and short-term priorities led to friction.

Amorim arrived at Old Trafford with a mandate to oversee a cultural reset and impose a long-term vision, but a lack of alignment with senior decision-makers ultimately undermined his position.

Also, some players struggled to adapt to his demanding tactical system, limiting his ability to fully implement his ideas.

Despite the ongoing turmoil in England, Amorim’s reputation remains largely intact.

Prior to his move to Manchester, he was widely regarded as one of the most progressive young managers in Europe, praised for his work developing young talent.

His status has not diminished significantly, and clubs in Europe, South America and the Gulf region still consider him a high choice as a manager.

His next steps will be closely watched, but if history is any guide, it won’t be long before Amorim returns to the touchline refreshed and ready to rebuild his reputation at the highest level.
