  • Malik Fofana joins Bayern as potential candidate
  • Where next for Malick Fofana?

Liverpool and Chelsea have been given a boost as Bayern Munich appear not to be planning a move for Lyon winger Malick Fofana.

According to Christian Falk, who wrote an exclusive column for CF Bayern Insider, Bayern have had an eye on Fofana in the past, but they currently have no plans to pursue that interest.

It has been reported for some time that big clubs such as Liverpool and Chelsea are considering Fofana, and this latest information will no doubt be music to their ears.

Lyon also tend to sell their best talent if they have the funds, so the talented young Belgian international is sure to become a player to watch on the market in the near future.

Regarding the relationship between Fofana and Bayern, Falk wrote: “That’s not true: Bayern are considering signing Marik Fofana.

“It is true that Bayern had the Belgian on their list. They also had Lyon scouts monitoring him, but in the end they decided not to sign the player.

“Bayern Munich will still take this position and spend the most money in the summer. There are several names on the shortlist. They want to ensure competition for Luis Diaz, as they do not have enough talent on the left wing.”

Where next for Malick Fofana?

Fofana seems too good to stay at Lyon for long and the Premier League could be his next destination.

The 20-year-old looks like he has a big future in the game and his profile could be perfect for Chelsea, who have recently placed an emphasis on recruiting and developing elite young players.

Liverpool were also a bit disappointing with summer signings like Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, but they may need to think about revamping their attack soon after the aging Mohamed Salah’s form has dropped significantly, so investing in Fofana could be a good thing.
