  • Julian Alvarez would be a great deal
  • Is Alvarez ready for a return to the Premier League?

Arsenal are reportedly considering signing Atletico Madrid striker Julián Alvarez in the summer transfer window.

Álvarez has had a great run since joining the Spanish club and is currently one of the best strikers in the world. It will be interesting to see if Arsenal decide to revive their interest in the player in the coming months.

They have invested heavily in Viktor Gökeres, but the Swedish international has not lived up to expectations. His performances have been inconsistent and Arsenal need a prolific goalscorer if they want to win major trophies regularly.

Alvarez has also been linked with a move to Chelsea or Liverpool.

Julian Alvarez would be a great deal

Alvarez has proven himself in the Premier League with Manchester City and is an exceptional addition to his home country. There is no doubt that he is a top class player and has the potential to develop into a star in the future. South American players are not just goal scorers. He is equally skilled at stopping plays and getting other players into the game. He is an expert at taking on defenders and scoring from free kicks. He could be the complete forward that Arsenal lack.

David Ornstein revealed on the Sky Sports Transfer Show that he is open to signing attacking players in the future.

He said: “Arsenal were considering Julian Alvarez in the summer and his name came up. I can see a player like that coming to Arsenal. If there is an outward movement, there is definitely room for him to come in (in an attacking position).”

It will be interesting to see if the South American attacker is willing to return to the Premier League. He is playing his best football for a Spanish club. However, there is no doubt that Arsenal are the bigger club and are more likely to compete to win major trophies on a regular basis. They have formidable resources and a great team at their disposal. Alvarez might be tempted if an offer comes along.
