Tottenham Hotspur’s season was once again heavily affected by injuries. Thomas Frank’s stale and uninspiring football has caused bitter divisions over the north Londoner’s territory, but he will be frustrated by the number of things that can go wrong that are outside of his control.

But on Tuesday night, Tottenham defeated Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, perhaps laying the foundation for building the Dane’s system.

Still, Lukas Bergvall’s fitness took a toll, with the exciting young midfielder sidelined for several months with an ankle sprain.

Spurs’ injury problems have worsened, with a number of first-team staff currently sitting on the sidelines.

Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison remain long-term absentees, with Mohamed Kudus joining them on the sideline. As a result, all creativity is being sucked out of the side.

Conor Gallagher was already signed for £35m from Atletico Madrid in January, but ENIC Group understands the need for more creativity at the heart of the park.

He’s not a particularly strong playmaker, but Rodrygo Bentancur has also been out for several months, which compounds the midfield problem.

Tottenham, who are 14th in the Premier League, need to improve as they are struggling in their build-up role, among many other issues at the flank. Gallagher will help, but he’s not a progressive passer.

Perhaps that is why there is interest in Liverpool star Curtis Jones, with the Daily Mail confirming there is a “long-term” interest in the England international.

Liverpool would certainly be reluctant to let homegrown talent go, but Spurs are likely to offer the 24-year-old a more senior role in N17, which he could be tempted to make the jump to.

A price tag has not been discussed, but Jones is valued at £42m on Football Transfers’ xTV model (expected transfer value).

What Curtis Jones brings to Tottenham

In early January, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher suggested Jones should be ahead of Alexis Mac Allister in Liverpool’s midfield.

Although he is excellent in possession, he has also developed further in his passing since Arne Slott arrived at Anfield, so he could be the perfect addition to Frank’s midfield and has been hailed as such.really special” Playing style according to one analyst.

Another Premier League analyst even hailed him as “one of England’s most underrated players”, with his wide range of passing and strong defensive skillset making him ideal for Frank’s flag system.

As you can see, Jones has performed at a higher level than Bergvall in the Premier League this season, and that doesn’t discredit the young Swede. This is a 19-year-old boy who entered a new field and sector during testing times.

Since joining at the start of last season, Bergvall has made 71 appearances for the Lilywhites, scoring two goals and assisting eight goals.

He has a lot of potential, but Frank needs immediate fixes and Jones’ clinical passing game has been infused with creative flair in recent years, which is why he could be such an asset at Tottenham.

Jones, who has won a number of silver medals with Liverpool, will help steer the culture in the right direction, but given that he has the skill set that the Londoners actually covet, this could be a game-changing signing for a team that has the talent to succeed and needs a role or two to implement Frank’s vision.
