Kaulig Truck Series hopefuls gear up to “fight for a seat” on FOX/FS1 broadcast

Kaulig Racing is set to reveal its fourth full-time driver for the Truck Series, though the announcement will take some time. The process is documented in “Race For The Seat,” an eight-episode series featuring 15 drivers competing for a full-time ride. These drivers live together without access to phones or computers, and the first episode will premiere on January 25 at noon ET on FOX.

Subsequent episodes will be available on Ram’s YouTube channel and FS1. The series is produced by Dana White’s Thrill Sports Productions and hosted by Jacob Lofland, known from the series “Landman.” The show follows drivers as they race late model cars at tracks like South Boston Speedway and Virginia International Raceway, locations where NASCAR testing rules limit official practice. Filming and competition took place in November.

Tim Kuniskis, Ram’s CEO, said he was drawn to the project because he wanted more than just race coverage—he sought a story that transforms lives, something that resonates deeply with viewers. Kaulig Racing experienced challenges in terms of track racing knowledge, securing track time, and vehicle preparation. The main goal was to put pressure on the drivers to identify potential future stars.

Kuniskis mentioned that although the show wasn’t designed as a spectacle, they uncovered some valuable tips for improving speed at Daytona. While the show might have served as a distraction to the competitors, it was all part of the process. The drivers come from various grassroots short track series, as Kaulig aims to find emerging talent to join their existing full-time drivers Brenden Queen, Daniel Dye, and Justin Haley. The winner will likely have limited NASCAR experience but will be eligible to compete full-time.

Additionally, a fifth Kaulig driver will rotate throughout the season, combining seasoned veterans and newcomers seeking to make a name for themselves. Kuniskis expressed enthusiasm for the mix of the TV series, the influx of new drivers, and the support of Dana White’s TKO organization, believing it will give the team momentum heading into Daytona, regardless of results.

Even if a competitor doesn’t perform perfectly on track, sharing their story remains important. Dana White’s involvement in Kaulig Racing isn’t surprising, as he has recently been seen sporting Kaulig Racing gear at UFC weigh-ins. White highlighted that this reality show aims to discover rising stars and provide them with a significant platform, noting that in such competitions, the best driver always comes out on top.

Bob Pockrass, a seasoned NASCAR and INDYCAR reporter for FOX Sports, covers this story and has followed motorsports for decades.

Fan Take: This initiative represents an exciting new way to uncover fresh talent and bring engaging stories to NASCAR fans. By blending reality TV with grassroots racing, Kaulig Racing could help energize the sport and introduce the next generation of stars to a broader audience.
