On Saturday night in St. Paul, Minn., the Florida Panthers secured their third consecutive victory on the road by defeating the Minnesota Wild 4-3 in overtime. Brad Marchand led the charge with two goals, including the game-winner just three minutes into overtime. He also contributed an assist, helping the Panthers improve their recent form to 5-2 over their last seven contests. Sam Reinhart added a goal and an assist, with his 25th goal of the season marking his sixth consecutive goal and seventh overall. Sam Bennett also scored for Florida.

Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky made 18 saves, earning his 207th career road win, which moved him into third place all-time in NHL history for road victories, behind only Martin Brodeur and Marc-Andre Fleury. At the start of the day, Bobrovsky was tied with Ed Belfour for third place on the list.

For Minnesota, Kirill Kaprizov recorded a goal and an assist, extending his points streak to five games with three goals and nine assists during that time. Matt Boldy scored his first game back after missing four games with an upper-body injury, with a short-handed goal late in the third period to give the Wild a 3-2 lead. However, Bennett tied the game on the same power play shortly afterward. Marchand sealed the win with an assist from Carter Verhaeghe on a 2-on-1 rush, which developed after Boldy’s failed pass in the Florida zone.

The Wild’s Verhaeghe gained possession following Boldy’s turnover and advanced the puck, setting up Marchand’s decisive goal. Boldy’s return proved impactful, but Florida’s resilience in close games continues, as they remain undefeated this season in one-goal games, with a record of 15-0-3.

Minnesota’s head coach John Hynes, a Rhode Island native, reached a significant milestone with his 800th career game coached, becoming only the fourth American-born NHL coach to do so.

Upcoming games include Florida visiting Chicago on Sunday night, while the Wild will host Chicago on Tuesday.

Fan Take: This game showcased the intensity and unpredictability of close NHL contests, highlighting why hockey fans should always stay tuned — every shift could turn the tide of the game. It also reminds fans of the impressive achievements and resilience players bring, shaping the dynamic narrative of the sport.
