Fulham are on the verge of completing one of the most ambitious transfers in recent history. Florian Plettenberg reports that significant progress has been made on the signing of Manchester City winger Oscar Bobb.
According to Sky Germany journalists, Fulham have reached a verbal agreement with the 22-year-old on personal terms, with only “final details” needing to be worked out before the two clubs can finalize a permanent deal.
The transfer fee is expected to be between £35m and £45m, a major investment from Fulham and a clear sign of their intention to strengthen their squad under Marco Silva.
The move would make Bob one of the club’s most expensive signings in modern times, and certainly one of the biggest outside the traditional Premier League top six.
Man City star Oscar Bobb wants more playing time
Widely regarded as one of Man City’s most technically gifted young attackers, Bob has impressed in multiple competitions since breaking into Pep Guardiola’s first team.
Although his playing time is limited due to City’s depth, Bob has shown plenty of promise with his cameo appearance.
The recent addition of Antoine Semenyo to the club has made life difficult at the Etihad Stadium and the player is desperate for more playing time, so a move away from Man City makes sense for all parties.
Fulham could provide Bob with a platform to revive his career.
Fulham have described Bobb as a priority signing, with Silva keen to add a dynamic, pressing winger who can open up defenses and enhance the team’s attacking patterns.
Fulham have lacked a consistent creative threat in their wings for a long time.
Bob’s camp are said to be keen on the move, with the player hoping to earn a regular spot in the Premier League and play a leading role in a competitive environment.
Fulham’s project under Silva and the guarantee of a key role in the starting XI were key factors in his decision.
