Manchester City are currently making an approach to sign the Premier League star, whose former manager Josep Guardiola is considered a big fan.

Man City step up recruitment of forwards as Sabinho’s future is in doubt

Savinho has often found it difficult to get consistent game time, with Jeremy Doku guarding his left-sided position for much of the 2025-26 season, and Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Man City could be open to selling the Brazilian following interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

The 22-year-old played just 821 minutes in 24 Premier League games, often being brought on as a late substitute by Guardiola, while also missing out for extended periods due to a thigh injury.

As a result, City, who boasted the most powerful attacking force in the Premier League last season, are looking to sign a new forward in the summer transfer window, which opens on June 15th.

Man City approach signing Premier League ‘elite’ forward

In a recent post for X, Romano revealed that Man City have made a call to sign AFC Bournemouth star Eli Junior Crupi, with Arsenal also making an approach, to “get information” about his situation this summer.

The Gunners are preparing to sign the Frenchman, but given that his Bournemouth contract has an £87m release clause and is not due to kick in until the summer of 2027, it may be difficult to get a deal over the line.

What’s more, the Cherries are keen to retain the 19-year-old, who enjoyed an impressive debut season in the Premier League, finding the back of the net 13 times in 33 games.

Guardiola is considered a big fan of the teenager, with scout Jacek Kulig hailing him as an “elite talent” who is capable of playing in a number 10 role as well as centre-forward or left wing.

Not only that, but he also scored in both Bournemouth’s games against Manchester United and Arsenal, as well as the penultimate game of the season against Man City, and there are signs that the youngster has the potential to become a big-time player.

Crupi could therefore be ready to take the next step by joining a Champions League side, and City would no doubt pursue a move if Sabinho does.
