Diogo Moreira reveals that he has gained significant experience and knowledge while preparing for his rookie MotoGP season, much of which involved training alongside Alex and Marc Marquez. Moreira is moving up as the reigning Moto2 World Champion with the LCR Honda Team, joining Marc Marquez, the current MotoGP World Champion, and Alex Marquez, the MotoGP runner-up.

For Moreira, training with the Marquez brothers offers an ideal environment as he enters his first year in the premier class, and he feels confident and ready to begin the championship. Speaking at LCR Honda’s season launch, Moreira said, “Finally, I think we’re prepared to kick off the season. We worked really hard throughout the winter and trained extensively. After the final race in Valencia, we only had one week off, so now we’re set to start.”

He added, “Training with Marc and Alex has been very beneficial. I learned a lot from them, and I believe we’re ready for the season ahead.” Moreira experienced his first MotoGP test last November in Valencia and recently participated in a shakedown test at Sepang from January 29 to 31, where he improved his best lap time by 1.6 seconds over the last two days.

Reflecting on the test, he shared, “Overall, it went really well. I feel I made great progress during the three days in Malaysia, but I still need to continue refining my skills with the new bike and better understand its limits. I’m confident and ready for the upcoming Thailand race.”

Fan Take:
This news is exciting for racing fans because it introduces a promising new talent ready to challenge the established champions. Moreira’s close training with the Marquez brothers hints at intense competition and fresh dynamics within MotoGP, which could bring thrilling races and shake up the sport’s hierarchy.
