This Friday’s Gulfstream Rainbow 6 Pool Set to Thrill with an Estimated $450,000 Jackpot!

For Friday’s 10-race card at Gulfstream Park, the 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool is projected to hit around $450,000. The first race is set to begin at 12:20 p.m.

The popular multi-race wager has seen strong activity for six days in a row, following multiple forced payouts of $71,527 on Pegasus World Cup Day, January 24th. Since the championship started on Thanksgiving, November 27th, the largest jackpot awarded was $416,348.44 on January 8th.

In the Rainbow 6, the jackpot is only awarded if there is a single unique ticket that wins all six races. On days without a unique winner, 70% of the pool goes to the ticket with the highest earnings, while 30% carries over to the next jackpot.

Friday’s Rainbow 6 covers races 5 through 10, beginning with a claiming race for older horses running six furlongs on the main track. Sound of the Beast, who won a similar race by two lengths on January 15th, is the favorite, while Gallant Knight is expected to set the pace under trainer Jose D’Angelo, each holding about 33% of the betting interest.

Race 6 is an optional 1 1/16-mile event for older mares and fillies, featuring Child of the Moon, the 2024 Athenian winner, making her return after 434 days away. She enters as a 7-5 favorite in her six-year-old debut. Stakes winner Sweet Rebecca will also race for the first time under trainer Brendan Walsh.

In race 7, Late Night Text returns for her 3-year-old debut in a special weight 1 1/16-mile contest on the Tapeta surface, now with added Lasix and blinkers removed. Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher will showcase Wujud, a homebred daughter of two-time Horse of the Year Curlin.

The highlight race comes in race 8, a stakes-quality optional claiming allowance over five furlongs on the turf, featuring 11 older fillies. Abientot, winner of the 2024 Matron (G3), has experienced nine straight stakes losses, often against elite competition. Her stablemate Karaya, trained by Hall of Famer Mark Cass, is returning after placing third in the Lady Turf Sprint last February.

Shades of Jade aims for a third consecutive win with his latest victory at the same distance on December 24th. R Morning Brew, a stakes winner on dirt, will make his turf debut for leading trainer Safie Joseph Jr. Tree C’s Kai, winner of two straight races on Tapeta, is also entered and cross-entered in Saturday’s Ladies Turf Sprint.

Fan Take: The swelling Rainbow 6 jackpot adds an exciting new layer of anticipation for Gulfstream Park fans and betting enthusiasts alike, spotlighting the thrill of multi-race wagering. This growing interest not only boosts fan engagement but also shines a bright light on the sport’s evolving betting landscape, promising a vibrant future for horse racing.
