MILAN (AP) – The Canadian Olympic Committee expressed deep sorrow over the tragic school shooting in British Columbia that resulted in at least seven deaths and numerous injuries. Team Canada issued a statement during the Milan-Cortina Olympics on Wednesday morning, following the incident at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School.

“We are devastated by the terrible news of the school shooting in British Columbia. Our hearts go out to the families who have lost loved ones, those who were hurt, and the entire community of Tumbler Ridge. Team Canada stands in solidarity with everyone affected as they face these challenging times,” the statement read.

Canadian officials confirmed on Tuesday that the total number of fatalities had risen to 10. While seven victims were killed at the school, two additional bodies were discovered in a nearby home, and the woman believed to be the shooter was also deceased. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police reported that over 25 people suffered injuries, including two with life-threatening conditions.
