Conor McGregor Seen on Video Roughing Up Sparring Partner at Gym: ‘You’re Under Arrest’

Conor McGregor is visibly having a great time during his training camp as he prepares for a comeback. The former two-division UFC champion hasn’t competed since suffering a broken foot at UFC 264 in July 2021. At the UFC White House event on June 14th, McGregor expressed his eagerness to return to the octagon. While the exact timing of his return remains uncertain, he has maintained a consistent training regimen throughout the year.

In a recent Instagram post shared with his 46.3 million followers, McGregor showcased some playful moments with his undefeated training partner while working on his ground techniques. The video features McGregor executing a head-and-arm choke from side control, teasing his partner with the words, “You’re under arrest,” and “Stop resisting,” just before his teammate tapped out.

However, McGregor’s comeback may face hurdles due to his contract status. He revealed that Paramount’s new $7.7 billion deal with the UFC has effectively nullified his current agreement. As the biggest pay-per-view draw in MMA history, McGregor was previously paid based on PPV sales, but since the UFC has moved away from the PPV model, his existing contract no longer applies. To fight again, he’ll need to sign a new deal. McGregor confirmed he would begin negotiations with the UFC in February, highlighting his interest in the talks amid the company’s recent financial growth.

Fan Take: This update is crucial for fight fans because McGregor’s return could dramatically reshape the UFC landscape, bringing back one of its most electrifying stars. Securing a new contract not only impacts his career but could also set a precedent for fighter deals in the evolving business of MMA.
