FSG are set to welcome yet another attacking star to Liverpool this summer after establishing contact with an impressive star who grew up a fan of the club.
The Reds’ transfer business has been the subject of much discussion this season. It comes after they spent around £450m bringing in a number of new stars last summer before struggling to defend their Premier League title.
Arne Slott’s side, who have twice broken transfer records by signing Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, were expected to be more unstoppable than ever. For the first time, Liverpool spent big this summer.
rank | player | commission | signatory | year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | alexander isak | £125m | newcastle | 2025 |
2 | Florian Wirtz | £116m | bayer leverkusen | 2025 |
3 | virgil van dijk | £75m | southampton | 2018 |
4 | Hugo Ekitike | £69m | frankfurt | 2025 |
5 | Alison | £67m | rome | 2018 |
However, since their arrival, things have not gone completely to plan. As with Milos Kerkes, Wirtz is only just getting used to life at Anfield, while Isak has barely featured and is sidelined with a serious foot injury. Of all the arrivals, only Hugo Ekitike started from the off.
It ended in an incredibly disappointing campaign, with Champions League qualification now in jeopardy. As it stands, the Premier League champions are 6th and 3 points behind fourth-placed Manchester United.
If Liverpool fail to break into the top four, serious questions will be asked, which could be answered during the summer transfer window.
As frustrating as Gakpo: FSG must finally sell Liverpool’s £34m ‘superstar’
Liverpool are preparing for another summer of big changes in the transfer market.
FSG had spent a lot of money once, and now they were able to spend a lot of money again to complete the new Liverpool. Recent reports have claimed that the Reds are interested in attacking additions such as Matheus Mane from Wolverhampton Wanderers, but their focus could once again turn to the Newcastle United star.
According to Caught Offside, FSG are currently in contact with Anthony Gordon over a potential move to Liverpool this summer, with the deal potentially worth as much as £95m, leaving them in pole position.
£95m Gordon could finally replace Dias
Liverpool’s biggest problem this season is physical. As they chose to take the path of dominance, the summer Premier League was filled with strong players.

He had an impressive season.
That’s why Arsenal are bullied to the top of the tree and why Liverpool are bullied almost every time a set piece goes into their area.
That’s also why Liverpool’s press is struggling. Gone are the days of Jurgen Klopp’s relentless press, with Luis Diaz’s departure putting the final nail in the coffin on this front.
Slott’s team hasn’t had the control and belief they had last season, and they’ve also struggled without the ball and players like Diaz who work hard off the ball. But Gordon might be able to solve that problem.
The Newcastle man, described as “clinical” by England manager Thomas Tuchel, grew up a Liverpool fan and is yet to realize his dream of playing for the Reds, despite graduating from Everton’s academy.
