Sean Dyche has emerged as a surprise candidate for the vacant managerial role at Leicester City following his sacking from Nottingham Forest earlier this week.

The veteran manager was relieved of his duties at the City Ground after 114 days in charge, becoming Forest’s third casualty in a tumultuous Premier League campaign.

According to Football Insider, Foxes bosses are currently considering the 54-year-old as an option to steady the ship at the King Power Stadium.

Deisch is reportedly a close friend of Leicester’s director of football, John Rudkin, and his sudden appointment led to an immediate change to the club’s shortlist, which also included Ralph Hasenhüttl and Gary Rowett.

Enzo Maresca has also been linked with a dream return to Leicester after leaving Chelsea.

The urgency of booking cannot be overstated. Leicester City currently sit in a precarious 20th place in the Championship, three points above the relegation zone.

Their situation worsened significantly last week when the Premier League granted an immediate six point deduction for PSR violations during the 2023/24 season.

After coach Marti Sifuentes was fired on January 25th, the team’s performance did not improve under interim manager Andy King.

The Foxes are without a win in their last six games and face the very real and frightening prospect of consecutive relegations.

With the fan base becoming increasingly restless, the board is under immense pressure to appoint a manager who can save the fans from falling into the third tier of English football.

Dyche’s no-nonsense style has often attracted criticism, but his track record as a survival specialist makes him an attractive prospect for clubs in crisis.

He defied the odds to keep Burnley in the Premier League for several years, and famously achieved the same feat at Everton.

Although his stay at Nottingham Forest was short-lived, he left the club in 17th place, three points behind in the Premier League.

For a Leicester team that is struggling at the moment, Dyche’s trademark discipline and defensive organization may be just what they need in their fight for survival.
