DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Daniil Medvedev won his 23rd ATP singles title at the Dubai Championships, with Talon Griekspur withdrawing from Saturday’s final due to injury.

Griekspur injured his left hamstring in Friday’s match against Andrei Rublev, and although he won in two sets in the semifinals, he was unable to recover in time for the final.

“I’ve definitely improved,” the Dutchman said at the trophy ceremony. “I went to the hospital this morning and got some tests done and they found something serious that will keep me from being on the court tonight and probably for the next few weeks.”

Medvedev won his second title this year after winning in Brisbane in January. This is also his second Dubai title after winning in 2023, and the first time he has won the same tournament twice.

“That’s the crazy thing,” Medvedev said. “I’ve never done it in any city in the world, and the first time I do it, it’s a walkover.”
