Liverpool are reportedly considering a surprise move for Brighton winger Yankuba Minte despite his recent poor form.

The 21-year-old once looked like an exciting young prospect, but he has been severely out of form of late, with zero goals and no assists in his last 14 appearances for Brighton.

Minte has only one goal and four assists in total this season in the Premier League, but Fichajes claims Liverpool are eyeing Minte as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah.

Reports have mentioned that Arne Slott knew the player well from his time on loan at Feyenoord, but it is unlikely that there is any truth to this particular story.

Yankuba Minte would be a very risky signing for Liverpool

Many players go through bad patches from time to time, but Minte looks too risky to sign for a big club like Liverpool at the moment.

If the Reds are really going to lose the aging Salah this summer, they need to ensure that whoever replaces him can hit the ground running quickly.

There may not be many players in world football who can do that, but there are many players who are safer than Minte.

The Gambia international is young enough that he could still turn things around and have a good career, but so far he has received an unsurprisingly low score in our Transfer Fit rating system…

8/25 represents a weak score. Because he can only really score points due to the fact that he has shown some potential before, is still young enough to develop, and plays in a position that LFC needs to strengthen.

Otherwise, this is definitely something to avoid for the Merseyside giants.

Other wingers to catch Liverpool’s attention

As Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg recently reported, Liverpool have made Bayern Munich’s Michael Oliseh a dream target, while RB Leipzig’s Yann Diomande is seen as a more realistic option…

Olise is probably the closest thing to Salah in this current market, but in many ways they seem to be missing the player’s profile.

Last summer saw a number of left-footed right-wingers move between clubs, with Brian Mbeumo joining Manchester United from Brentford, Noni Maduke joining Arsenal from Chelsea and Newcastle signing Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest.

Antoine Semenyo could have been a decent option as well, but he moved from Bournemouth to Manchester City in January, so Liverpool could have a tough job replacing Salah this year.
