Cameron Young moves to the top of PGA Tour money rankings with victory at The Players

Cameron Young jumps from 16th placeth His victory at The Players Championship on March 15 moved him to the top of the PGA Tour money list.

Of course he did. Young earned $4.5 million, the highest single-day salary in golf, increasing from $1,971,920 to $6,471,920. He tied for fifth at The Players, nearly $69,000 behind second-place Jacob Bridgman, who earned $925,000.

The player purses ($25 million) are so large that four players earned more than $1 million. Matt Fitzpatrick took home $2.75 million for his runner-up finish (jumping to 7th place)th (on the overall list), Xander Schauffele earned $1.725 million (moved up to 11th place)th) and Robert McIntyre pocketed $1.225 million (moves to 21)cent).

Bridgeman and world No. 3 Akshay Bhatia will have a chance to overtake Young this week at the Valspar Championship, which will be held March 19-22 at Innisbrook Golf Club in Palm Harbor. They are competing and the winner will receive $1,638,000, but Young is taking a break.

Millionaire Club is growing

There are now 41 players who have earned more than $1 million on the golf course this season, with the majority of that coming from The Players and three signature events over the past five weeks.

But it’s still far behind last year, when 50 players earned more than $1 million through The Players.
