Danny Rolle insists Rangers will be “hard to stop” once they start linking performance to results.

Rangers prepare for crucial game against Aberdeen

Rangers’ 1-0 win at St Mirren last Sunday left them three points behind William Hill Premiership leaders Hearts and one point behind Celtic with eight games remaining.

The three welcome points at Paisley came a week after Rangers were eliminated in the Scottish Gas Scottish Cup on penalties by the Hoops at Ibrox despite dominating for most of the 120 minutes.

Speaking ahead of Aberdeen’s visit to Ibrox on Saturday, Roll said:

“Let’s look back at the last five games. We had a strong performance against Hearts and got a good result (4-2). Then we played 50, 55 minutes against a strong Celtic side but we didn’t get the result we wanted (2-2).”

“We played away against Livingston and it was a game where we had a lot of chances, but we couldn’t snatch the win (2-2).

“At home we played over 120 minutes and performed well, but we didn’t get the result. And now we had one game where we didn’t perform at the highest level, but we got the result.

“You think it’s complicated. Of course, my hope is that we achieve performance and results together. Then I think it will be difficult to stop us.”

“The important thing is that we go into the international break with three points and then play two more games before going into the split.

“Time is running out and there are only a few games left. The important thing for us is to win the game.”

Teddy Bear is about to face another important showdown.

Rohr has doubts about Andreas Skov-Olsen and Mikey Moore for the match against Aberdeen, but is confident that Tour Romance will shake off the shock while he is hopeful Mohamed Diomande will be fit.

Rangers leaders clash over Tavernier’s contract status

According to a report from Football Insider, Rangers’ bosses want to extend captain James Tavernier’s contract primarily because of his experience and leadership, but there are “major concerns” about his age as the full-back is set to turn 35 later this year.

Given that he is one of the highest-paid players in Rangers’ squad at £30,000-a-week, extending his contract is risky, especially as the player wants a long-term deal.

Not only that, but there has also been renewed interest from the ultra-wealthy clubs of the Saudi Pro League, who had previously fought off interest from Al Etifaq.

All of this has led to hesitancy within the Ibrox board, with a decision needed in the coming weeks before talks over a new contract can begin in earnest.
