Liverpool and Arsenal could be backed by a rumored move for Stuttgart’s talented young centre-back Finn Jertsch.

According to Christian Falk in the latest CF Bayern Insider column, there appears to be no genuine interest in Jertsch from Bayern Munich heading into the summer.

Falk admitted that a number of top clubs are eyeing the 19-year-old and that Bayern are also aware of him, but insists signing a new central defender is not a priority for them at the moment.

This could be positive transfer news for Premier League powerhouses Liverpool and Arsenal, who have recently been rumored to be signing Gertsch on TEAMtalk.

It is clear that Jertsch wants to move to a bigger club in the near future, but for now Falk does not expect Bayern to become seriously involved in the race to sign the Germany Under-21 international.

Falk also added that in an exciting update for Liverpool and Arsenal, Gertsch could cost around 30 million euros, making a move to the Premier League more likely.

“That’s not true. Bayern keeps a surveillance summary on Finn Jertsch,” Falk wrote.

“Bayern knows the player and everyone is paying attention to him, including several Premier League scouts. He is doing very well. He is 19 years old and has a past in Germany, which is why he is also a very interesting player for the German national team.”

“But at the moment there are no direct offers for the defender. He is a promising player. But Bayern are not looking for a centre-back at the moment. He is on the list, on a long list, I would like to say like other players, but nothing concrete yet.”

“He is worth around €30 million (about £25.9 million) on potential sale, so that’s probably the price the Premier League would pay.”

Do Liverpool and Arsenal need Finn Jertsch?

Although Jertsch looks promising, he is still inexperienced and has only made 47 appearances for Stuttgart.

With Ibrahima Konate nearing the end of his contract and Virgil van Dijk not getting any younger, LFC need defensive depth.

That could mean there’s a role for Gjelchy, but it certainly won’t be easy for him to make such a big step up, as the Reds probably need someone close to their peak.

Arsenal, on the other hand, will probably need to focus more on their midfield and attack this summer, as their defense is already well covered.
