Manchester United are rumored to be making a surprise move for Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski at the end of the season.
According to Sportboom, Manchester United are willing to offer him a one-year contract. The 37-year-old will become a free agent when his contract with Barcelona expires at the end of this season. It remains to be seen whether the player is ready for a new challenge in the Premier League.
Manchester United invested heavily in Brian Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesco at the start of the season. They are currently looking to bring in someone with a wealth of experience and the ability to coach the club’s young players. They believe an experienced and sophisticated international player would be an ideal signing.
Lewandowski is undoubtedly one of the best goalscorers of his generation. He could be the ideal mentor for someone like Sesco. The Slovenian is a young player with a lot of potential and needs more guidance to realize his potential. If he ends up joining Manchester United, he could learn a lot from the Barcelona striker.
Manchester United are also expected to release Rasmus Hjølund and Joshua Zirkzee at the end of the season. Ideally, it would add depth to the attacking unit.
Lewandowski won two league titles with Barcelona, scoring 117 goals in 184 games. Before that, he had an extraordinary goalscoring record with Bayern Munich, scoring 344 goals in 375 games. He was also a phenomenon at Borussia Dortmund. There is no doubt that he will change Manchester United in the short term.
