  • Steven Gerrard talks about his ‘dream’ of being Liverpool manager
  • Will Liverpool change managers this summer?

Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard has admitted he would love the chance to become Reds manager at some point in the future.

The former England international is one of Liverpool’s best ever players, but it’s fair to say that things haven’t been going so well for him so far.

Gerrard performed well in his first managerial role at Rangers, but has struggled in subsequent stints at Aston Villa and Al Etifaq, and it remains to be seen whether he is realistically a candidate for a big job like Liverpool.

However, in today’s Overlap, Gerrard insisted his ties to his former club are still very strong and his dream is to become a manager one day.

Steven Gerrard talks about his ‘dream’ of being Liverpool manager

When asked by old teammate Jamie Carragher about his ambition to manage Liverpool, Gerrard said:

“Any area I can help, I will always do so. But you want to know, would I want to manage Liverpool at some point in my life? Of course that would be a dream.

“But are we ready to take our time and embrace it now? Probably not.”

Gerrard also wouldn’t rule out the possibility of returning to LFC as someone’s assistant manager, but insisted it would depend on who it was.

Will Liverpool change managers this summer?

Gerrard probably won’t be taking over as Liverpool manager anytime soon, but after a poor season under Arne Slott, perhaps we could see a change this summer.

Xabi Alonso has been rumored to be appointed, but The Times says there is uncertainty over the Spanish tactician’s preference for playing in a back three.

Perhaps this will buy Slott more time, but it will be interesting to see which names come up if the Dutch tactician does decide to leave.
