According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Reds are still trying to reach an agreement with Konate on a new contract, despite interest from other countries for the France international.

Ibrahima Konate transfer report hints at change

Plettenberg’s post, along with some information published in The Athletic this week, may suggest that optimism is starting to grow that Liverpool will keep Konate.

The report quotes dressing room sources as saying the 26-year-old is more likely to stay at LFC than leave, even though nothing appears to have been agreed yet.

Konate may be leaning towards staying at Liverpool as he currently lacks links with other big clubs.

This is a bit surprising as Konate is such a great talent, but perhaps big clubs in the market for a new centre-back have settled on other options.

It will be interesting to see if more positive talk emerges on this in the coming days and weeks, as that may convince Konate to stay put.
