Sky Sports journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has given Tottenham supporters a rare glimmer of hope by revealing that Dejan Kulusevski intends to remain at the club next season even if the unthinkable happens and Spurs are relegated to the Championship.
The North London side currently sit in 18th place, with six games left to defend their top spot.
The pressure at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium reached its peak last Sunday after Roberto de Zerbi’s debut in a 1-0 defeat at Sunderland.
Despite the expected exodus of star players this summer, Di Marzio believes the Swedish international is keen on the project.

Di Marzio: Dejan Kulusevski ‘definitely’ will stay
Speaking to bettingsidor.se via Football London, Di Marzio emphasized that Kulusevski’s personality makes him the ideal candidate to lead a potential rebuild.
Di Marzio said:
“I definitely think Kulusevski will stay at Tottenham even if they are relegated. He is a good example for other players and Roberto de Zerbi likes him too. He has the right mentality and I think Kulusevski can be one of the most important players for their project, whether they are in the Premier League or in the Championship.”
“De Zerbi will really try to keep him. He loves players with a strong identity and personality like him. He will definitely try to keep him.”
Kulusevski’s time at Tottenham was marred by injury
The support is especially important considering the 25-year-old has endured a “nightmare” season on the sidelines.
Kulusevski has not played a single minute since May 2025 after sustaining a serious injury to his right kneecap against Crystal Palace.
The winger is finally returning to fitness after a second minor operation to clear the joint in March 2026, but is unlikely to feature before the end of this season.
When fit, his quality is undeniable and he is undoubtedly one of Spurs’ best players. Last season, he contributed to Spurs’ historic Europa League victory with 10 goals and 11 assists.
Overall, he has scored 25 goals and provided 30 assists in 146 games for the club, a performance that has earned him praise from the likes of Josep Guardiola.
If Kulusevski stays even in the event of relegation, there is no doubt that he will play a major role in the fight to return to the top tier next season.
