Manchester United are reportedly still in intense contention over the transfer of Nottingham Forest central midfielder Elliott Anderson.

According to Florian Plettenberg, no club has yet contacted him about signing Andersson, and Manchester City may have other priorities.

See Plettenberg’s post on X below. Man United still intend to enter into competition with City, explaining that City are probably more focused on signing Rodri to a new deal at the moment…

“Forest expect Manchester United to remain seriously involved in the race to sign Elliott.” #anderson. “Manchester City have also expressed interest, but their focus now is on extending Rodri’s contract,” said a Sky German reporter.

He added: “So far no club has made direct contact with Forest. They are still demanding a fee of between £100m and £120m.”

Elliott Anderson transfer controversy intensifies

There has been much speculation over Anderson’s future, with many media outlets suggesting City are the frontrunners for the England international.

BBC Sport reported this, but also suggested United would not give up on Anderson.

Plettenberg’s post gives the Red Devils hope of signing one of Europe’s most exciting midfield players this season, with Anderson putting in a string of fine performances for club and country and looking like a bright spot at the 2026 World Cup.

Who else could sign Elliott Anderson?

On the other hand, we have also received information suggesting that Arsenal and Chelsea cannot be ruled out as suitors for Anderson.

Sources say Arsenal see an opportunity for the 23-year-old after beating City, while Chelsea are eyeing him as a potential replacement for Enzo Fernandes.

He also ranked United’s midfield targets and put Anderson at the top.
