  • A tough summer ahead for Newcastle
  • Bayern certainly don’t need Anthony Gordon

Bayern Munich are eyeing two Newcastle United players this summer: Anthony Gordon and Nick Waltemade.

We reported yesterday about Bayern’s interest in a move for Gordon, but the England international is also wanted by Arsenal and other top clubs.

Meanwhile, it is understood that Voltemade remains on Bayern’s list after missing out on a deal with Bayern when he joined Newcastle from Stuttgart last summer.

The German international made a bright start to the season with the Magpies, but his form has slumped a bit and there is growing talk of a return to the Bundesliga.

Bayern will likely be one of Gordon’s main suitors and it will be interesting to see if that leads to a double raid on NUFC for Gordon as well.

A tough summer ahead for Newcastle

Last summer was a tough one for Newcastle, with Alexander Isak leaving for Liverpool, and there are currently plenty of similar transfer rumors circulating.

Bruno Guimarães and Sandro Tonali are also attracting interest from Europe’s elite, so that could be a worry for the likes of Eddie Howe.

Gordon will also be hard to come by, but at the same time it’s hard to imagine Newcastle selling all three of these star players.

Bayern’s long-standing interest in Waltemade could also help, as it would likely be a fairly significant sale, meaning there would be less pressure on other big names to make a profit.

Bayern certainly don’t need Anthony Gordon

It’s also worth noting that Bayern already have great quality in attack, so they don’t need a player like Gordon as a priority this summer.

Michael Oliseh is having the best season of his life, Jamal Musiala, Luis Diaz and Serge Gnabry are also playing great football.

Gordon may want to leave Newcastle to challenge at a higher level, but there would be little point in moving to a place like Bayern if he is only going to warm up the bench.

The former Everton youngster will no doubt play a more prominent role at a club like Arsenal, with the Gunners in desperate need of reinforcements for Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard.
